Three Ways to Conquer Fear and Live in Love

Ever wonder why so many of us feel shaky, unsafe, and blocked in our lives?

The answer for most of us is FEAR. And the hurtful, wacky, messed up core beliefs that we create about ourselves based on this fear that we then literally pour our life foundations on.

Growing up, the fear that drove and ran my life was, “There is something wrong with me.” In other words, “I am flawed.” Not only was this my palpable ongoing fear—thanks to my psycho mom who starting when I was three told me I was morally flawed—but the fear actually calcified and turned into the dominant belief system that I built my entire identity around. To be blunt, I lived by the premise that I was inherently screwed up.

What’s totally wild about the initial fear seed that my mother planted is that it took years of anorexic perfectionism followed by horrific this-must-prove-I’m-flawed acne and finally a parasite as an adult to get me to face head-on the fear-based belief that had me in such a headlock. Only at age thirty-one did I embark on the journey of meditating on, sobbing about, screaming at, and diagramming my fear, all in order to dissolve it.

One day, some three years later, I watched in wonder as my entire bogus belief system came crashing down. That is when I saw the truth. That is when I understood that love is fear’s miraculous remedy. Through triumphing over fear and igniting love’s sacred vibration, we can ultimately heal.

Here’s what you need to know (and do!) in order to conquer fear and live in love:

1. Your fear-based belief is the ONLY thing that is flawed about you.

Identify exactly what this undermining belief is. De-construct it by replacing it with a new, positive belief based not on fear, but fueled by love. Soak yourself in this new love-infused belief as many times a day a possible. It might be, “I am whole,” “I am complete,” “I am worthy,” or “I am perfect exactly as I am.” Your love-based belief will create a solid and beautiful foundation that becomes the root of how you go on to flourish in your life.

2. Understand that there is no NOW in fear.

It is based entirely on what was in the past and what might be. Love on the other hand is synonymous with NOW. It is always available, immediate, and here. Commit to finding it in the present moment, no matter how rough your day, week, or year has been. Through the practice of saturating yourself right now with love, you line yourself up for the expansion of more and more of it in your future.

3. Just as fear breeds fear, LOVE FEEDS LOVE.

The more you nurture it, the more it grows. Eric Clapton wrote, “Plant your love and let it grow.” He is SO right. Once you plant the seeds of love and you believe in how wonderful and totally whole you are in this very moment, there is no stopping love. Even better than that, there is no stopping you.

When we install love in our lives in this way, we consistently tap into divine consciousness and are then bathed day after day in this highest, brightest, most astonishing of lights. If you ask me, there’s nothing more inspiring or Positively Positive than this.

I invite you to share your thoughts and stories below in the comments.

Living in the Love Vibration

By Shirley Marshall, Ph.D.

Well into midlife, I’ve finally discovered that the law of attraction means living in the love vibration. Not only is this the law of attraction, it is the law of life. If we want good to manifest for us, we must commit ourselves to feeling good, being good, doing good. Good is God expressing through us.

When we live in the love vibration, our energy resonates at a high frequency and we express the God-qualities of compassion, forgiveness, tolerance, respect, generosity, joy, peace—all that inspires, empowers and enhances life. The love vibration lifts us to a higher state of consciousness and frees us of the thoughts, feelings, and actions that minimize and victimize us. Gone are any neurotic fear, guilt, judgment, greed, envy, arrogance, and the ego’s stubborn need to be right. “Vexations of the spirit” lose their power over us. Free from the baggage of negativity and limited thinking, we begin to feel lighter and shine brighter. We become the magnet attracting our good.

“Living in the love vibration” may be a simple concept to understand, but it can be our most difficult challenge. Living in the love vibration means keeping our ego/personality in check as we relate to people and circumstances from “the high watch,” our soul-self. Our ego easily indulges in the dramas of life. We invest emotional and physical energy in advancing the ego through superiority, security, and status. Our soul-self is the wise, detached participant-observer. It experiences life but is not consumed by it. It recognizes life as the unfolding of a Divine Plan, the evolving of Spirit within form. The soul-self trusts that “all things work together for good.”

When we live in the love vibration, we know that all aspects of life are connected and that we each have the potential—indeed, the responsibility—to become whole. To clarify: Connection means that every presence on this planet (human, animal, plant, mineral) is a unique expression of God and that we are all interdependent. There is no separation … we are all cells of the living God, and what affects one, affects us all. Wholeness, on the other hand, means being complete as an individual and in harmony and balance at all levels of our being—body, mind, and spirit. To be whole means to gather up and heal our fragmented pieces—the parts of ourselves that are disconnected from Spirit. Our brokenness is often due to feelings of unworthiness and pain from the past. Living in the love vibration keeps us focused in the present moment, connected and at one with ourselves and all there is.

Some people are born with a high love vibration, and others are fortunate to grow up in it. Most of us, however, have considerable overcoming to do in order to fully experience it. This overcoming is the process of personal transformation or the process of becoming connected and whole.

Living in the love vibration is our birthright and directs the unfolding of our life’s passion. It sets the intention for every day, the agenda for every interaction, the prescription for every ill, and the expectation for every circumstance.

In this state of being, we are heart-centered in thought, word, and deed. We project the high frequency of love and light, and it returns to us. This is the law of attraction.

Because the love vibration requires our ego personality to surrender to the soul-self, we get out of our own way. Our path is cleared. We encounter people and situations that inspire us and guide us toward the fulfillment of our potential and passion. We are in the flow of life. Our role shifts from reactor to cocreator. We are empowered.

You know when you’re living in the love vibration because you can feel it. It feels like a natural high. It is a feeling of connection, of wholeness, of lightness and expansion. Meditation, miracles of nature, emotional ecstasy, and places of awesome beauty can give us similar feelings of bliss.

To continually live in the love vibration takes considerable commitment and vigilance. It is all too easy to regress into fear, judgment, or self-righteousness. No matter how spiritual we think we are, we are still having the human experience of trials and tribulations, progress and relapse. And it’s all right. We don’t have to deny or condemn our human vulnerabilities. The goal is to be positive and let the intelligence of our heart guide us. …

Prayer, meditation, inspirational readings, and service to others are all excellent ways to attract connection, wholeness, and love. Other strategies include:

  • Seeking the good in everyone and everything.
  • Bringing trust to adversity.
  • Being grateful for all that we have.
  • Taking the high road in any conflicted situation or relationship.
  • Creating a sacred space of peace and beauty in which to renew.
  • Caring for living things. …

Love is the elixir for joy and the antidote to pain. Love fuels the fire of our passion. Love lifts us from our limitations to our potential. Love transcends time and space. Love transmutes differences and prejudices. Love heals. Love is the vibration of Spirit, the song of the Universe. Love is the Alpha and the Omega.

Learning to live in the love vibration is why we are here. It is our individual and collective purpose. It is the secret of life that is hiding in plain view. When we live in the love vibration, we graduate this life with honors.

The “I Love Me” Meditation™  is a simple and profound heart-centered practice of consciously generating your personal frequency of love. It will teach you how to activate your natural capacity to generate and experience love through conscious awareness and conscious choice.

This practice helps us to awaken. It encourages personal empowerment, healing, greater self-esteem and self-discovery as we learn practical means of replacing fear and other negative frequencies with the most powerful force in the universe; Love.

The meditation can be often repeated throughout the day. Through practice, we learn to infuse our life with positive life-giving frequencies and experience greater levels of expanded conscious awareness. Over time, it becomes easier to love ourselves, to love others, and to love life.

What is the deepest, purest source of love available? Is it relationships? Well, they are usually where we look for love. We look for a special someone to give us love and return us to a state where we feel supported and safe. This can work great…. for a while. But does the honeymoon last? Does human love fulfill and mend our hearts? Or is there a love beyond human love that is more fulfilling, a spiritual and unconditional love that underlies our lives? If so, how do we access it?

Love is the motivation behind many of our dreams, actions and thoughts. People move across the country, quit jobs, stay in unhealthy situations, all because they want love and they think their actions will increase it. Yet we often have a lot of rules and ideas about love that stop us from feeling love for ourselves and others.

What rules or requirements do you have around love? Fill in the blank with a few statements:

“When someone does or is ___________(such and such), it means they love me.”

One way to expand your capacity for real love in your life is to look at your inner rules honestly. See which ones work and see which ones place limits on your capacity to give or receive love.

Consider this: See the rules for what they really are: attempts to make human love conform to the parameters of divine love. Our rules around love are well-intentioned, but they are usually stifling. Divine love has no bounds and conditions; human love is filled with bounds and conditions. We want others to love us as we are, but we usually put so many conditions on what love is in the first place.

We have to step out from the rules and move into Spiritual love. Love, without any rules, conditions, limitations or neediness is spiritual love, in the way I use it here. Human love or “Hollywood versions of love” say: ‘I will love you if you show up on time, take the trash out, dress a certain way, etc….” It’s fleeting; it comes and goes depending on what people are doing and thinking. It gets mixed up with a lot of nonsense!

Spiritual Love on the other hand is pure and unveiled. It is always present, regardless of whether or not we are in a relationship. It is in your own heart.

Take a deep breath…. Let’s access it now. Watching good meditation videos will help.
